A Conversation with Our Faletuas: Faith in Action Through COVID-19


The Southern California Pacific Islander COVID-19 Response Team will host a panel discussion with our Samoan Faletuas, or spiritual mothers, on Wednesday, August 5, as part of the SoCal PICRT's Talk Story Series. The event will take place 6:30-8pm (PST) on Zoom and broadcast on Facebook Live.


"O le Talanoa ma Faasoa mai o Faletua o le Galuega: Fa'atinoina o le Fa'atuatua i Taimi o le Koviti-19" (A Conversation with Our Faletuas: Faith in Action Through COVID-19) will feature presentations on critical COVID-19 resources and information for our Samoan community, as well as provide a space for Faletuas to share their views, ideas, and needs for building road to recovery from this pandemic. To empower a vibrant discussion, the event will be held in Samoan.


Panelists include:

  • Faletua Meilyn Thompson, Dominguez Samoan Congregational Christian Church, Compton

  • Faletua Toeaina Luisa Young, Kanana Fou Congregational Christian Church, Lomita

  • Faletua Solonaima Frazier-Tuia, Long Beach 7th Ward, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

  • Faletua Patosina D. Tuala-Filemu, Gardena Genesis Community SDA Church/El Monte SDA Church

Moderated by Faiaoga Moni Pili, from LE GaFa, the Talk Story Session will include an inspirational song and message from The Katinas.
